About the team we are recruiting to

The Housing and Homelessness Service is a very busy environment  and faces several challenges to meet the housing needs of citizens of Coventry.  The team have grown significantly during the last 12 months and this reflects the fact that Housing & Homelessness are now a key council priority.   

This post will be based in Housing and Homeless and working closely with the Migration Team.  You will be part of the wider team who supports families who arrive to Coventry from abroad via Government Managed Migration Projects.  

What is the job role?

As a Business Support Officer you will be working with landlords, Letting Agents, Suppliers and clients.  In your Role you will be  

  • Chasing rent and supplier invoices 

  • Placing furniture Orders with recommended suppliers 

  • Checking goods ordered match goods supplied and adjusting invoices where they differ 

  • Logging and monitoring support payments to clients – in line with Home Office guidelines 

  • Processing payments to Landlords, Suppliers, Maintenance Contractors and clients.  

  • Monitoring purchases on Staff Purchase Cards 

  • Receipting Goods Purchased from Suppliers.  

You will need to be proficient in using a variety of packages, Word and Excel and other financial packages in order to record, analyse, monitor, and review information. The primary role is to process rent and supplier invoices and ensure accurate records are kept.   This will be via the in-house Finance System, Business World.  You will be asked to create simple finance reports both via Business World and Spreadsheets. 

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with and using spreadsheets and other financial programs.  You will have a knowledge of finance systems and how to process invoices and payments.

Good customer services skills are required as you will need to be able to communicate with different teams within the council and external stakeholders.  

You will be able to work effectively as part of a team, on your own using your own initiative. 

It is desirable if you have previous experience of taking financial information and producing simple reports.
