We value diverse perspectives and experiences and are striving to create a workplace culture that is inclusive, is accepting of all and is free from discrimination and bias.

The Community Resilience Team is a small team with a wide and exciting remit.  Due to a team member retiring, we now have a 5 day a week post although we are happy to consider requests for part time and job share arrangements.

Working at the interface of the Public and Voluntary sector our role is to support both City Council Services and the Voluntary and Community sector to create new service models which better support the people of Coventry.

This involves supporting both sectors around funding, recruiting volunteers and increasing the capacity of the sector.  Examples of our work include the setting up and support to the many food hubs and social supermarkets in the city, creation of community libraries and our work to establish a network of 300 community messengers.

What is the job role?

The role supports groups and organisations in the voluntary sector, which support the people of Coventry. Examples include supporting people who want to set up a self-help group or support to an existing community centre or community food hub/social supermarket.  The role is exciting and varied, and no two days are ever the same.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a full time Community Co-ordinator to join us. However, we will consider requests for part time and job share arrangements.

We are looking for someone who ideally has experience working with community and voluntary organisations.  This can be in a personal or previous work capacity.  Your attitude, enthusiasm and good communication skills are more important than length of experience as we are a supportive team and happy to train and mentor you to help build your skills in community development.

We need someone who is enthusiastic, able to support groups and most importantly can enable community action to happen.

An informal discussion with the team about this role is warmly welcomed; please email communityresilience@coventry.gov.uk so we can set up a time to discuss this opportunity with you.

When applying for this role you will be asked to write a personal statement, please use this to demonstrate your experience working with or alongside the community and voluntary sector as well as other transferable skills key to this role such as communication and applying for external funding.
