About the team we are recruiting to

The Education Entitlement Service (EES) strives to deliver outstanding services for our customers, predominately the children of Coventry, who may be requiring access to education or alternative education provision. We ensure vulnerable children are appropriately supported; have a voice, that hopefully leads to their high achievement and excellent progress.

The EES is made up of a diverse range of teams all working together to recognise, support and apply innovative solutions to address the growing issues in relation to trying to educate some of our most vulnerable pupils in schools. 

The service is responsible for delivering statutory duties for the Council in respect of:

  • Pupil attendance enforcement
  • 6th day provision for permanently excluded pupils; and 
  • The administration of the Fair Access and Supported Transfer process

What is the job role?

An opportunity has arisen for a Fixed Term Temporary Pupil Inclusion Officer post within the Education Inclusion & Attendance Team.

The role is for 29 hours per week until 31 March 2022.

Please note that this role is an administrative position which is office based

Please note that the salary advertised has been adjusted to reflect part-time working.

Internal candidates may wish to consider this role as a secondment opportunity with prior agreement with their line manager.

Reporting to the Inclusion and Attendance Manager you’ll support the local authority to fulfill its statutory duties and responsibilities for school attendance, inclusion, exclusion, and in-year fair access arrangements and securing safeguarding requirements.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
 

Who are we looking for?

To be successful, you’ll need to be someone with a high degree of accuracy, committed to customer care and someone with excellent numeracy, literacy and keyboard skills. You’ll also have had experience of advising parents and schools on policy, guidance or legislation.

You’ll be a good team player who is wholly committed to achieving the very best.  In return, you’ll work with a talented and creative team, one that will support and challenge you every step of the way.

Your application should include:

  1. An example where you’ve needed to be accurate, detailed and precise to achieve service objectives.
  2. An example where you have had to prioritise your workload in a recent role.
  3. Describe a situation where you’ve brought people together to overcome an issue or challenge to enable service objectives to be met.
