About the team we are recruiting to

The Case management team in Coventry Legal Services is responsible for all the Children Act public law and Adoption and Children Act proceedings for the city of Coventry. The successful candidate will thus manage a caseload of Children Act public law cases, together with related adoption applications, special guardianship applications, discharge of care orders and revocation of placement order cases.

What is the job role?

The Case Management legal team is looking for a qualified Lawyer to join it as soon as possible. If successful, you will be part of a friendly and supportive team that deals with care and adoption proceedings on behalf of Children’s Services. Your role will be to manage a caseload of Public Law children’s cases through the court process effectively, and to provide a quality legal service to our Client department. The role includes some advocacy although there is access to an in-house advocacy team for more complex hearings.

You must have the ability to deal with a demanding caseload, with excellent client care skills, and an eagerness to provide a high-quality service to our clients and local community. You will be self – motivated and organised with a track record of meeting strict deadlines and timescales.

When applying for this role you will be asked to write a personal statement, when writing your personal statement please include/ demonstrate the following:

  • An experienced Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive (Fellow).
  • Understanding of the law relating to Children and experience of successfully managing a busy childcare caseload.
  • Understanding of rules of evidence and procedure.
