About the team we are recruiting to

FDAC , Family Drug and Alcohol Court, is a problem-solving court, where parents are assessed and offered an intensive intervention from a multi-disciplinary team, offering Trauma Informed and Relationship Based Intervention where their children are subject to care proceedings where substance misuse has been a feature of their parenting difficulties . The team work directly with the parents with the hope that they can overcome their difficulties in the timeframe for the child, and support permanency for the child in a time focused manner. 

Coventry FDAC is a well-established and a nationally recognised team for innovative practice within the public sector. The specialist multi-disciplinary FDAC team has developed and refined its knowledge of working with parental substance misuse. The Team’s combined skills and expertise offer an accessible and holistic approach to parent/s to overcome their difficulties to achieve abstinence. The Two elements of the intervention are – Can the parent overcome their difficulties in the timeframe for the child and can they provide safe enough care ? 

In May 2019 the DfE asked Local Authorities to support and invest in families and in practice. The Supporting Families Investing in Practice programme, provided investment through grant funding to develop and expand the Family Drug and Alcohol Courts (FDAC). 

Coventry City Council and Warwickshire County Council have through the DfE Supporting families investing in practice grant funding to expand the existing FDAC team in Coventry to provide a service to Warwickshire families as well.

What is the job role?

We are looking for a Child and Family Worker to join our team on an initial 18 month fixed term basis.

Within the role you will be work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, assessing and intervening with families. You will work in partnership and empower families to sustain positive behaviour changes

You will act as a Key Worker with case management responsibilities to co-ordinate and plan integrated and intensive family support including working with Parents whose children are subject to care proceedings as a result of parental substance misuse and provide appropriate assessments and support to parents whose children whose children are subject to care proceedings.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for an individual who feels passionate about effecting change for families.

You will have  experience of parenting programmes and working directly with parents to deliver interventions , an understanding of children’s needs, observing, teaching and modelling positive parenting.

Do you feel confident in working with complex needs where parents have substance missus issues , trauma, lifestyle  and relationship difficulties?  Do you have assessment skills and able to write reports? if you do, we would certainly welcome your application.
