What is the job role?

Corley Centre is a secondary special school for children with complex communication and interaction difficulties. A significant number of students have an autism diagnosis.  Students bring a range of abilities and aspirations, special educational needs, vulnerabilities, challenges and behaviours.  Student attainment covers the full National Curriculum and GCSE/vocational range.

We are seeking a highly driven, creative and nurturing teacher to deliver a creative, practically focused Life Skills curriculum to a class of students in Years 10 and 11.  Governors are seeking someone who will create a calm, consistent, structured learning environment in which students develop self-esteem and self-efficacy and move forward in their learning to maximise their true potential.  Supportive contact with parents will be essential.

Students work towards a range of qualifications including Functional Skills English and Maths, and ASDAN Certificates of Personal Effectiveness and Employability, plus additional complementary qualifications, providing a broad and balanced curriculum. Incorporating students’ personal interests and linking learning across subjects will be key.

All teachers at Corley Centre are Subject Leaders. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring a challenging and robust KS4 Life Skills curriculum, which prepares students for Post 16 pathways and beyond.

The post will also involve a pastoral role.

Applications are particularly welcome from core subject specialists. Experience of teaching children on the autism spectrum is essential.

Visits to the school can be arranged within our current Covid-19 measures. All applications are returnable direct to the school at mwilkinson@corley.coventry.sch.uk
