About the team we are recruiting to

Coventry City Council's HR Digital Transformation Team is a small, busy, vibrant and innovative service responsible for delivering key enabling digital services for Human Resources.  Our People Plan 2020-22 sets out our ambitions as a HR service that will inspire others, drive and secure opportunities to improve and transform the services we offer to the citizens of Coventry.

Our role within this is to lead the development of digital service delivery for HR across the Council and for our external customers. This includes systems and data, and in particular the use of workforce data to enable strategic and operational decision making.  Some of our key priorities for the year are to design and implement a HR data warehouse; and to migrate our operational reporting services to new tools and roll these out across our range of user groups.

As well as delivering projects, we undertake a range of system administration activities for a number of HR systems, including e-Learning, Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Wellbeing and our Management Information databases.

If you think digital, HR and local government may be a bit old school, think again.  Innovation is at the heart of everything we do, and as a service we work closely with our corporate ICT & Digital team who are currently working on programmes of activity which include 5G, ChatBots, Process Automation, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality.

What is the job role?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Graduate HR Data Analyst for a 12 month period.  The role is pivotal to the development and implementation of the HR data warehouse and analytics provision in particular.

The key activities involve specifying, developing, testing, and implementing data models, tables and feeds, and designing and implementing new reports, analyses and analytics.

Supporting our users during project rollouts is key, and you will be designing user guidance notes as well as technical documentation using a range of methods and media, and supporting the rollout of the warehouse and reporting tools across the Council and our external customers.  You will also liaise with ICT and software providers throughout the projects.

Who are we looking for?

You will have an understanding of database design, the concepts of data warehousing, as well as an understanding of the ICT service lifecycle, including change management and release management.

You must have good knowledge and experience of using database and reporting technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server, PowerBI and Excel.

We are looking for someone who has an appreciation of what a HR service does and the services it provides.

Your verbal and written communication skills are essential for working with project teams, providing guidance and support to users and liaising with suppliers.

You need to be a good organiser and a team player to deliver a wide range of tasks on time.  Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy is key.

You will be keen to develop your career in the areas of data, reporting and integration.
