Fleet Management is a key support service for many internal and external customers at Coventry City Council. We are based in a fully equipped vehicle workshop at our Whitley Depot site and are responsible for the repair and maintenance of approximately 500 items including vehicles and plant machinery and equipment. We are also responsible for the provision of fuel to our customers, and in addition provide a driver training service to many customers.

What is the job role?
The role of the Legal Compliance & Asset Management Officer is to ensure the effective asset management and utilisation of all fleet items ensuring optimisation of resources.
To provide efficient administration to ensure that all transport related legislative requirements are met. Ensure we are complying with our Operator Licence undertakings and company driving policy.
To work with fleet customers to ensure all service level agreements are met.
Supervise and support the Technical Assistant team, ensuring that all fleet tasks are completed, all costs are accurately recharged and monitored.
Identify ways to ensure that we remain sustainable to be able to continue to provide the council services.
Our aim is to ensure that all customers have a positive experience when dealing with us in the Fleet Management team, we would welcome someone that shares this passion to be part of our team.
Who are we looking for?
Ideally, we are looking for someone with experience of working in a Transport related environment, but for the right candidate full training will be provided.
If you are someone who enjoys a challenge, working in a busy fast paced working environment where no two days are the same, this could be the opportunity for you. We are looking for someone with a hands-on approach willing to attend training courses and who can keep up to date with changes in legislation.
The ideal candidate will be able to:
- Effectively manage a demanding workload and deal with conflicting priorities
- Possess strong organisational skills and the initiative to prioritise their own workloads and workloads of the team
- Be resilient, flexible and focused on achieving results
- Interpret data & apply legislation
- Produce reports and KPI figures and where necessary take corrective action
- Need to hold a current driving licence
