Coventry Bereavement Service work tirelessly to deliver the highest possible standards of service to all bereaved families at their time of need.
We are responsible for the provision of burial across 6 cemeteries located city wide, the management of Canley Crematorium and Gardens of Remembrance as well as various other sundry services including the provision of Public Health Funerals and post cremation memorialisation. Through the hard work, commitment and dedication of our skilled team of colleagues we are able to deliver a highly demanding service demonstrating both empathy and compassion.
Bereavement Service is proud of the services it is able to deliver and guarantee the families are always at the heart of all it does. We will provide you with an environment where you can flourish by providing training, promote personal growth and learn new skills all whilst helping to deliver essential services to the bereaved.
What is the job role?
As a gardener in bereavement services you role is to maintain the landscape of the Gardens of Remembrance, arboreal an horticultural features across all the Authorities’ Cemeteries.
You will undertake driving duties which may include vehicles up to 7.5 tonnes and ride on grass-cutting equipment.
You will be planting, hedge cutting and pruning of shrubs and hedges. You will be responsible for chemical control applying weed killers and other chemicals in line with Health & Safety.
Who are we looking for?
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Knowledge of horticulture
- ability to supervise and set work
- Ability to operate a range of machinery
- Customer Care Skills to communicate tactfully and sympathetically with bereaved members of the public
- Significant experience of operation of plant and equipment
- PA1 and PA6 trained
- NVQ 1, 2 & 3 in Horticulture, City & Guilds or equivalent
- A Full Driving License
