About the team we are recruiting to
The Coventry Extended Learning Centre (ELC) is a pupil referral unit for Key Stage 3 & 4 pupils who have struggled to access mainstream school education owing to a number of differing factors including exclusion. Our dedicated staff work to re-engage young people who commonly arrive with negative views of education, of their own prospects and of themselves. We build trust and provide support to enable them to stretch themselves and achieve their maximum potential.
What is the job role?
Coventry Extended Learning Centre is seeking a Headteacher across the 2 sites working with the Head of Education Improvement and Standards.
Based in our Education & Skills Directorate and reporting to the Head of Education Improvement and Standards the role will include teaching, performance review of staff, some budgetary experience would be desirable as is working with pupils with challenging needs.
The centre has a Requires Improvement Ofsted rating therefore it is essential the candidate will have experience of working at senior leadership level and implementing improvement strategies across the sector.
This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

The successful candidate will be a leader who champions getting the right support for children and young people to allow them to reach their full potential. A team player with good interpersonal skills, and a good track record of delivery, who is wholly committed to providing excellent provision.
