Our Values

It’s great to know that you are interested in working with us at Coventry City Council. As a prospective employee, it is important that everyone who works for us is committed to our One Coventry values and shares our commitment to becoming a more diverse and inclusive organisation.

Our Values are:

About the team we are recruiting to

We have an exciting opportunity where you can be part of a team working in response to Covid-19.

Nationally, we are all asked to follow Public Health or Dept of Health and Social Care government guidance to stay safe and manage our response to Covid-19. This was in response to the initial return to workplaces, shops and local businesses and following further lockdowns it is even more important that we all continue to follow the guidance to protect ourselves and the people around us.

One of the many actions taken by the Council in response to this, has been to create a Welfare Call team to support local people that are self-isolating and undertake local contact tracing as part of the NHS Test & Trace service.

What is the job role?

Casual Worker Opportunities

Initially from January 2022 to March 2022.

Service hours: Weekdays 9am – 6pm, Weekends 9am – 5pm

The Welfare Callers provide telephone calls and door knocking to support the welfare of those that are self-isolating and undertake local contact tracing as part of the NHS Test and Trace effort to support the city’s coronavirus pandemic response. So far, our callers have made over 15,000 welfare phone calls to the people of Coventry to help look after the city. The team will maximise the chances for our residents, communities, and businesses to thrive while minimising the level of inconvenience and disruption to their lives. The role includes:

• Making the NHS Test and Trace phone calls.

• Making Coventry City Council welfare phone calls to people who have tested positive for COVID-19.

• Door knocking people who have tested positive for COVID-19 for welfare checks or if they have not answered NHS Test and Trace phone calls.

The Welfare Call Team will operate for 7 days per week – that is, including weekends and holidays. Staff will be given hours to ensure the service is staffed equally across the whole week.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
