What is the job role?

Come and join us at an exciting time and be part of the Professional Support Service’s journey.  We are a team that works with colleagues at all levels across Children’s Services to contribute to positive outcomes for some of the most vulnerable Children and Families across the City.

This role will be based in the Fostering, Placements and Commissioning Team. It is a rewarding area to work in that is expanding due to growth of the Fostering Service Team and Professional Support is growing with it.

You will provide management oversight and direction to a close-knit team and promote a positive working culture where Children and families are at the heart of everything we do.

In this role you will be responsible for providing team management and leadership, including performance management and development of a team of professional support staff and liaising with Team Managers, Social Workers and Operational Leads to ensure compliance with Statutory timescales.

You will support improvements and Ofsted priorities in Children’s Services, whilst continuously working to make a difference to improve the lives of children, families and young people.

This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is a self-starter
  • Has strong organisational, leadership and people management skills
  • Thrives in a busy environment, with an ability to multi-task to meet conflicting deadline
  • Is able to problem solve and use their own initiative
  • Has a good understanding and application of stakeholder management
  • Has great attention to detail along with excellent communication skills
