About the team we are recruiting to

Coventry is the 9th biggest city in England, and has ambitious plans to grow its economy, reputation and quality of life, including the delivery of its UK City of Culture title in 2021, and Commonwealth Games in 2022.

The Council’s ‘Business Investment and Culture’ service has a remit for economic development, inward investment, sustainability, culture, sport, tourism and events. It is a lively group of largely specialist officers with responsibility for strategy, funding and project delivery across its sections.  It has recently expanded significantly, taking on new staff to develop and deliver activities stimulated by the title of UK City of Culture in 2021 and being a host of the Commonwealth Games in 2022.

The Destination team we are recruiting to is responsible for a range of functions, including: 

  • Promotion of leisure and business tourism across diverse marketing channels
  • Operation of the Coventry and Warwickshire Convention Bureau
  • Provision of Coventry’s Visitor Information services
  • Working in partnership with the city’s visitor economy businesses
  • Delivery of Coventry’s Tourism Strategy

What is the job role?

You will have responsibility to develop, promote and support marketing partnerships and cross-promotion between key venues, hotels and events, as well as to manage and maintain performance data supporting key platforms.

In addition, to manage the day-to-day operation and continuous development of the main destination marketing packages for leisure tourism, including digital and offline services.

We are looking for someone to lead the design, management and implementation of key destination marketing strategies and campaigns for Coventry, in order to drive an increase in visitor footfall and spend, stimulate economic growth and new jobs within the sector, and raise Coventry’s profile as a destination of distinction for tourism, conferencing and business, culture and events, education and innovation.

This role offers a unique chance to promote Coventry during its significant year as the UK City of Culture, to attract and raise our profile.
